A Word from the Head

The Mission of The English School Community of Luanda, Angola (ESCOLA) is to provide, in the medium of English, a learner-centred education of the highest calibre that is relevant in the Southern African and international context.

The English School Community of Luanda, Angola, (ESCOLA) is an interdenominational, independent school catering to learners in the medium of English. The formal curriculum, which is based on internationally recognised curricula, is offered from Pre-Primary to Grade 9. Class sizes are limited to twenty students.

ESCOLA is associated with the well-established ‘Colégio Português’ and the learners benefit from the cross-cultural exposure. Consequently, our second language, which is Portuguese, is enhanced through social interaction. We have unified soccer and swimming teams that compete against other school groups in the area.

ESCOLA is a member of ISASA, the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa, and an ex-officio member of the CIS, based in Europe. Our Grade 6 and 8 students write the ISA international examinations each year in October. These offer a chance to benchmark against some of the better schools internationally.

Our students represent almost thirty different nationalities. Respect for other cultures is a core aspect of our school‘s culture, and we celebrate our diversity each year.

At a time of tremendous educational development, we send our staff on in-service training around the world. This ensures we are up to date with modern educational trends.

We are subject to Quality Assessment checks, and have recently come off an assessment that was very positive about our standards here. We have an open door policy that encourages interaction between our parent body and our teaching staff.

Day pupils: 78 boys and 74 girls

Annual day fees: $11,000 - $20,000

This school does not offer flexi-boarding.
