Queen Anne’s is an independent, single sex, 50:50 boarding and day school for girls aged 11 to 18 years.
Our academic and pastoral systems are structured to allow each girl’s needs to be met they can thrive as they journey throughout the school. The curriculum is modern and challenging and provides an ideal preparation for the demands of university life. High academic standards are at the core of the school’s achievements, but life at Queen Anne’s involves much more. Extra-curricular activities, an active community and strong pastoral care combine to help produce happy, self-confident well rounded adults, who are ready to succeed in whichever field they choose.
The house system at Queen Anne’s contributes to the development of a friendly and supportive community. With their houses acting as a home-from-home, the girls develop interpersonal skills and learn to understand and respect those around them. All students belong to a house with a team of dedicated pastoral and academic staff and the girls take part in many inter-house competitions and events. There are two junior (girls aged 11-16) boarding houses, three junior day houses and two dedicated sixth form houses, for both day and boarding students. Evening and weekend activities are available to all boarding and day students. Full and flexi boarding is available and school buses operate in a widespread area.
The school occupies a 35 acre campus in Caversham with extensive facilities. A large sports centre is equipped with a fitness suite, dance studio, squash courts, a climbing wall and a separate indoor swimming pool. The Performing Arts Centre has a 250 seat theatre, green room and fully-equipped light and sound control room. A seven laboratory science centre, with sixth form study rooms, was completed in 2006, and a new art & design centre, with dedicated sixth form studios, textiles, 3D art and ceramics studios and a photography studio with dark room, opened this term.
