Our commitment to you
Education should be an exciting, uplifting and liberating experience, a process that unlocks a world of opportunity for each child. Encouraging every child to flourish in all aspects of their development is our starting point. Beyond this, we aim to give your child a life-long appetite for knowledge and understanding, a curiosity about the world and a delight in it.
From this foundation, Bishop’s Stortford College enables girls and boys to develop into fulfilled, happy and personable young women and men equipped with the vital skills, adaptability and, above all, confidence to thrive as adults in a rapidly changing world.
Where every child can flourish
Small class sizes, excellent facilities and imaginative, enthusiastic teachers enable the Junior School and Pre-Prep Department to provide 'a high standard of teaching in a caring, lively, well-structured environment' (Independent Schools Inspectorate Report).
The Pre-Prep with its high number of full-time class-room assistants working alongside the teachers, ensures every child receives the attention they need for developing confidence in all aspects of their lives. Inside every child there is potential to be unlocked and careful streaming in the Junior School ensures that each child is helped to develop his or her potential at the right level.
Joy in breadth and balance
Whether as Boarders or Day Pupils, our young people are involved in an environment of whole-hearted participation. A diverse range of extra-curricular activities alongside high academic standards provide the opportunity for every child to discover areas of interest and success that might otherwise be untapped.
Academic results are excellent and the College has a strong reputation in sport, music and drama.
