Founded in 1976, Lansdowne College is an independent College, taking students from the first year of GCSE (Year 10) through to A Level. The College is housed in a modern, spacious building with excellent facilities, including a 200-seater hall, science laboratories, media and AV suites, languages laboratory, art and photographic studio, student study centre and student café. It is situated in a quiet residential road, one minute’s walk from Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park between Bayswater and Notting Hill. The College is served by excellent tube and bus links from across London.
The College is renowned for the warm, supportive atmosphere provided by its staff and students together. Its students thrive on a mixture of expert tuition, hard work and pastoral care, and as young adults, benefit from an environment that while maintaining academic rigour and discipline, provides a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, allowing each student to achieve his or her full potential.
Lansdowne offers all the subjects on the school curriculum and many others that are not. Teaching is in small groups for both A Level and GCSE students. There is an expanding GCSE department and the College also offers one-term and one-year A Level retake courses, alongside traditional A Level courses.
The College also offers a scholarship and bursary scheme to help with part-fee remission (full-fee remission is not available) and further details are available from the College.
Whilst expecting all its students to achieve highly at both GCSE and A Level, the College considers factors other than academic ability when assessing criteria for entry. Admission is normally by interview and receipt of a satisfactory reference from the candidate’s current or previous school. Applications are accepted all-year round and prospective students are asked initially, to contact the Head of Admissions.
