A Word from the Head

Two sisters, the Misses Billings, founded Grange Park Preparatory School in 1924. Now a charitable trust, the trust still occupies its original site, and educates girls aged four to eleven. Recently there has been a considerable development to provide additional classrooms, a specialist room for teaching Science, Art and Technology, a new Computer Suite and a larger Library.

Girls are taught largely by their form teacher with increasing subject specialisation as they progress through the school. PE, Games, Dance and French are taught to all girls by specialist teaching staff.

The school has a reputation for excellent pastoral care and for developing individual talents and potential. Classes are small, with an average of fifteen girls per class, and there is a one form intake. Teachers have high expectations and set high standards of achievement. Our KS1 and KS2 SATs results are excellent. At eleven girls transfer to schools within both the maintained and independent sectors.

GPPS is non selective in Reception. Girls applying for a chance of vacancies higher up the school are asked to spend a day at school for an informal assessment.
